Abstract

In this critical moment of history, we must open up and renew both the shape and self-understanding of critical futures studies to fully become part of the project of positive social interventions. This text explores the increasing significance of innovating critical future studies in the context of increasing societal complexity and technological advancement. It emphasises the need for a new, more pluralistic approach to understanding, shaping and discussing futures in open societies, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and scientific rigour in future research while calling for a bolder, more multiversal and experimental approach in applying futures for critical social interventions.
