Abstract

This editorial introduces the third meeting of Italian futurists and underscores the growing urgency of anticipatory competences in light of recent global crises. It highlights the European Commission’s commitment to the Green Deal and the institutionalization of Strategic Foresight as signals of a structural shift toward sustainable, future-oriented governance. Addressing simultaneous demographic, technological, geopolitical, and environmental transformations requires a coherent strategic framework. Strengthening futures studies and professional foresight capacities emerges as a crucial condition for navigating systemic change and shaping resilient public policy.
