Abstract

On April 14, 2025, MOMus – Museum of Modern Art in Thessaloniki hosted the second experimental session of the Future of Sustainable Fashion - Fashion Futuring workshop, conceived by Clarice Garcia and developed within the framework of the European project Eye of Europe. The initiative brought together experts in fashion, design, and foresight to explore sustainable futures of fashion through participatory techniques, speculative design, and creative prototyping. Participants reflected on values, identity, and social, cultural, and environmental transformations related to fashion, creating futures and artifacts that translate contemporary tensions and aspirations into tangible objects. From mapping personal experiences with fashion to designing symbolic garments and accessories, the workshop enabled the analysis of complex systems and the imagining of possible actions towards sustainability. The event demonstrated how fashion can become a critical tool for collective reflection and experimentation, capable of fostering awareness, empathy, and imagination in building desirable futures for society and the environment.
