Abstract
This editorial by Roberto Paura introduces Futuri, the magazine of the Italian Institute for the Future, as an ambitious initiative aimed at fostering long-term thinking about Italy’s future within a global context. Emphasizing the urgent need for strategic planning and foresight, the piece references calls for long-term governance from Italian and international leaders, including the Oxford Martin Commission for Future Generations and its 2013 report Now for the Long Term. The Institute’s launch event, “Italia 2050,” held in Naples, symbolically adopts mid-century as a time horizon, aligning with broader global discussions such as those promoted by the Club of Rome and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
