Back from the future: il futures thinking e il metodo del backcasting come approcci partecipativi per il policymaking

Abstract

This scholarly article explores the potential of futures thinking and foresight to anticipate and surface plural futures within organizational settings, using participatory design approaches that also inform policymaking practices. Specifically, after an introductory section featuring an environmental scan with an analysis of changes in work in relation to technological hyper-acceleration, it offers a deep dive into the concepts of forecasting, foresight and anticipation. Finally, after presenting futures literacy as a normative foundation for a pedagogical policy, the article shares an application of the backcasting method, including a creative redesign of both the methodological framework and the visual component.
