Abstract
The paper aims at highlighting the relationship between literary narration and videogame fiction by identifying a common matrix in the instance of escapism. The ‘ludic’ nature of literary fiction legitimises the momentary form of transgression of the norms of logic and society that characterises narrative practices. Ludic practices enhance their instruments of representation and subversion of the canons of reality through the manipulation of language, a privileged tool of fictional creative manifestation.
The polymorphous, multisensory structure of the videogame incorporates characteristics of the media forms that preceded it by merging them with its own. The new narrative possibilities related to the videogame experience are connected to the ways of using and displaying content, which in the videogames developed by the Japanese software house From Software give rise to peculiar forms of communication and sharing of plot fragments, possibilities of narrative developments and technical skills.
