Abstract

Participating in the debate on Italy in 2050 organized by the Italian Institute for the Future is significant for Legambiente. Understanding the future to change the present is crucial, as we are already amidst significant changes. One major transformation is the ongoing energy revolution. Italy, for instance, was powered solely by renewable energy for two hours on June 16, 2013. Additionally, the growth of photovoltaic energy production has surpassed earlier predictions, indicating a shift in the energy sector. However, Italy's energy policies need to align with these changes to ensure sustainable progress. Despite advancements in renewable energy, outdated policies and reliance on traditional energy sources hinder Italy's potential for progress and innovation. A comprehensive industrial policy focusing on renewable energy and long-term solutions is essential for Italy's sustainable development.
