Abstract
"The Congress," directed by Ari Folman, presents a dystopian future inspired by Stanisław Lem's novel. Actress Robin Wright sells the rights to her digital avatar to a studio, allowing them to use her image for any role. Twenty years later, she attends a congress where attendees ingest a psychedelic substance to enter an animated world. The film explores themes of reality, illusion, and the power of media corporations, critiquing the influence of mass media and raising questions about autonomy and freedom.
