Abstract
The article explores Transhumanism, contrasting the common notion of it being based on mostly science-fiction speculations with relevant anthropological and philosophical premises. It highlights that emerging technologies, such as genetic engineering and artificial intelligence, make transhumanist perspectives plausible. The risks, both social and ethical, inherent in this outlook are discussed, emphasizing the need for informed public discourse and reflection on the future. Transhumanism, aware of the risks, aims to preserve human essence while seeking to overcome biological limitations through self-directed evolution.
