Abstract
In 2003, UN-Habitat released a study noting that "a third of the world's urban population, over one billion people, lived in what we will generically call slums." A trend that, following its evolutionary path, will lead to the tragedy of a slum demography surpassing two billion individuals by 2030, mostly concentrated in the global south.
