Abstract

Bifurcations are a requirement of History, which does not move forward in a straight line, but winds and branches out. All trajectories that evolve over time are nourished by possibilities followed and others lost—personal, folk, political, biological, or invented trajectories. It is required by the need to adapt to the changes that occur between individuals and sometimes within them. In particular, bifurcations emerge when the path of a people or an individual unravels between divergent directions. There is the exit from a marked road and there is the beginning of a new path looking toward the future.
