Abstract

In this article we tackle a classic theme for sociologists regarding the relationship between economy and the rest of society in a world where the relative importance of markets has increased compared to other means of coordinating joint actions. In particular, we question how the economy/society relationship is established in the emerging political reality within one of the most important existing political organizations, the European Union, which can be seen as one of the empires of the current world.
