Abstract

The rapid acceleration of artificial intelligence is reshaping organizational and social contexts, often through future narratives driven by techno-financial priorities. These dominant narratives contribute to growing AI anxiety and a reduced sense of agency among individuals and teams. This paper proposes Futures Design Thinking as a methodological approach to reframe the relationship with the future, shifting it from a deterministic outcome to an intentional and participatory construction. It introduces Postcard From Futures, a Futures Design Thinking toolkit designed by Orbyta Tech to support the creation of preferable future narratives and the development of key power skills such as creativity, critical thinking, agility, empathy, and urgent optimism. Through structured envisioning practices, the method helps individuals and teams explore aspirations, values, and competencies, fostering a future-positive mindset rather than producing predictions or predefined solutions. The paper argues that working on future narratives is a critical cultural lever for navigating technological change and strengthening agency in times of uncertainty.
