Abstract

This essay examines posthuman aesthetics in the films of Neill Blomkamp, focusing on District 9 (2009), Elysium (2013), and Chappie (2015). It argues that Blomkamp’s cinema develops a disillusioned critique of transhumanist utopias, problematizing human machine hybridization in bioethical and socio-political terms. At the same time, his films outline an alternative, affirmative posthumanist anthropology. The study adopts a qualitative methodology based on a semiotic- narrative analytical grid and is situated within the theoretical framework of posthuman studies.
