Abstract

The article discusses the critical role of energy in human survival and development, particularly focusing on the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions. It highlights the need for a European approach to energy, emphasizing the challenges faced at the national level. The European Union (EU) is urged to address issues such as reduced energy security and climate change through decarbonization efforts. Despite the economic challenges posed by renewable energy technologies, initiatives like the EU's 20-20-20 strategy are deemed necessary for achieving energy independence and combating global warming. However, Italy's slow adoption of renewable energy technologies compared to other European countries has led to infrastructure and economic challenges. The article advocates for greater investment in renewable energy, aligning with European strategies, and emphasizes the need for infrastructure improvements to support energy transition.
