Abstract
The enduring absence of evidence for the existence of intelligent civilizations in the universe necessitates the preservation of our civilization, unique as far as we know, from any threats that may compromise its existence. The anthropic imperative is the notion that it is necessary to undertake all actions required to ensure the indefinite survival of the human species in the future.
