Abstract
The article explores the evolution of border control, tracing its roots back to the sovereignty over territory. It discusses how contemporary challenges, such as migration and globalization, have heightened the importance of border security for European Union member states. The establishment of Frontex, an EU agency aimed at enhancing operational cooperation at external borders, represents a significant response to these challenges. However, the article underscores the ongoing need for flexible and adaptive strategies to address evolving geopolitical and geo-economic landscapes.
