Abstract

The article explores a paradigm shift in the approach of humanities and social sciences, from analyzing the past to anticipating the future. It focuses on recent works by Seligman, Railton, Baumeister, Sripada, Beckert, Appadurai, and Wright, outlining a challenge for the entire discipline of psychology through the emerging field of "foresight." It highlights the need to consider anticipation as a fundamental organizing principle of human behavior and to reconsider the role of the past and memory. The article also emphasizes the value of anticipation in social and economic sciences, as well as the need for closer dialogue between social sciences and futures studies disciplines.
