Abstract
In this editorial, Roberto Paura reflects on the evolution of futurology—now more accurately framed as futures studies—and recounts the decision to organize Italy’s first National Congress of Futurology at the Città della Scienza in Naples. Inspired by Stanisław Lem’s visionary works, including Solaris and Summa Technologiae, the initiative aimed both to provoke debate and to legitimize future-oriented research in Italy.
