Abstract

The rise of hybrid media and the disintermediation of information are among the direct causes of the growth of the post-truth phenomenon. Direct access to information is undermining the very foundations of representative democracy, and the resulting erosion of statehood could have unpredictable consequences in the medium to long term. In a world no longer based on facts, crisis management will prove to be a very complicated challenge.
