Abstract
In a near future where consciousness can be stored and re-embedded, twelve-year-old Elliot agrees to host his digitally preserved grandfather while a clone body is grown. As the grandfather’s presence reshapes Elliot’s daily life. The bond between them deepens beyond novelty or utility. Confronted with financial strain and the weight of borrowed time, the grandfather ultimately chooses to relinquish his second life. The story explores memory, fear of death, and love as an act of letting go.
