Abstract
Transhumanism, with its notion of a self-directed evolution of the human species, seems to stand in opposition to religions, particularly Christianity. However, one of the early theorists of transhumanism was the Jesuit and paleoanthropologist Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, whose ideas are gaining increasing centrality in the debate on science and faith and the connections between the scientific revolution and the Christian revolution.
