The new millennium inspires us not only to think long term about the opportunities for humanity in this new era; the first years of the millennium are also marked by socio-political changes the world has never seen before. The familiar world order is rapidly changing. To prepare ourselves, we must strengthen our capacity for long-term thinking and commit to a much higher degree in futures studies and research.
