Abstract

This editorial argues that just as history is constantly reinterpreted and contested, our relationship with the future must move beyond resentment toward the past and embrace the “not yet” as a space for action. While some forms of revisionism risk remaining trapped in reactive narratives, futures studies offer a prescriptive dimension that explores possible, plausible, and preferable futures. The discipline combines qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methodologies to guide both reflection and concrete action. Ultimately, the issue calls for translating theory into practice so that imagining the future becomes an active, transformative endeavor.
