Abstract
What effects is the acceleration of technological progress having on the evolutionary path of human beings? The advent of new technologies seems to lead the res cogitans (logical-calculating) to sever ties with its own body, with its emotional and instinctual sphere, with the entire realm of imaginative experiences that characterize human beings in their irrevocable uniqueness. Could this alleged independence of consciousness perhaps simulate human mental states, reducing them to an endless series of strings, bits, and numbers?
